where's the passion?

There are times that i badly want to give up on this kind of profession.Because things get awfully tired lately.Ive been working hard than hard working.Laboratory job requires you  in your 99.9% self.  And mind you,no room for human error, you need  not to outsmart you common sense and you have to deal with  some extremely impatient patients.Especially nowadays when everybody seems to be sick. That even if you feel sick you have to go work your ass out.A long queue of lavander tops for CBC and the fact that you have to deal with the lowest platelet counts, racks and racks of chemistry requests, tons of serology dengue tests, and heaps of media plates at bacteriology. Ive been dealing with this hurricane-like workload lately.Whining then is of no use even if everyone is sick and tired. This is what it takes to be a medical technologist.

I understand the feeling of our new-recruit juniors which I know were on the state of shock, with those  added minor errors. Ive been through those bad days too.But guys remember, those nerve-wrecking experiences will mold you as a pro.Patience answers it all.You have to be tough!

One time, i talked to a first year college metdech student from our place through facebook. He reminds me of my eagerbeaver medtech student self back then. The days when being a medtech student makes you a little proud. Dissecting a frog, your first blood-typing experience, your first phlebotomy moment, your first microscope encounter when you have to close one of your eyes with your hand just to appreciate the world under it.Nostalgia! And to pass all those next to impossible exams.I realized that i somehow neglected  an eye full of awe with this profession. That one time in my life I prayed to be a medical scientist one day.

And to those who feels like giving up,like me: Remember my favorite line from the "Three Idiots" movie, MAKE YOUR PASSION YOUR PROFESSION.And to add the lesson I learned from my first year professor sir Leo that i will never ever forget,ITS NOT ALL UP HERE,DAGDAGAN MO!
Yes,Attitude defines it differently.
